I've owed my P89DC since '97 and have loved every minute of its use. I really didn't appreciate the ease of firing and balance of the gun until a few years back when a bought a Tarus pt 145. I realize they are a didfferent class of gun...but firing the Ruger was like good sex!

Ruger P89 is a fantastic firearm! Have had it 8 years without glitch. Rugged, reliable, accurate, easy to field strip.

Hey Mangun, there is a threaded barrel for the 89 right now on gunbroker.com, but they don't list the manufacturer.

I have owned the P89 for 3 years now and have never had any major problems. I own this and the P95 and thinking of buying the P90. Ruger makes a quality built product it takes a licking and keeps on ticking

I GOT MY P89 IN 2006, I HAVE SHOT 7400 ROUNDS THROUGH IT WITH OUT ANY MECHANICHAL PROBLEMS. I PUT HOGUE GRIPS ON IT AND HELP ME GET A BETTER GRIP ON THE GUN. I PAID $409 NEW AND IT WAS MONEY WELL SPENT, IT'S A RUGGED AND RELIABLE GUN.

The only issue I have had with my P-89 in a decade and over 6000 rounds is that guide rod spring. But turns out it was my fault. The guide rod spring has a particular direction it needs to be installed.

Ruger sent me a new Guide rod and explained the issue. Been more careful since then :)

Just bought a p89dc this past week, mint shape.. However the guide rod pops out about an inch after cocking the gun you then have to push back in. My guess is that it is the incorrect part...? Anyone have any idea's??? Other then that gun is near perfect fires great...
