Davester, Thanks for the input, I actually let my ex girlfriends father shoot it and he couldn't get the gun to work right either and this guy is a deadeye. Everytime he fired the gun it would be either too high or too low on the target and sometimes

Hey Mangun, there is a threaded barrel for the 89 right now on gunbroker.com, but they don't list the manufacturer.

Beetlemaster,
Dude, you probably weren't accurate with the gun because it didn't fit your hand. I would recommend a smaller grip for improved accuracy (the SR-9 comes to mind...but it might not fit you either). Also, is your dominant

This was my very first handgun, I purchased one on my 22nd birthday and I paid about 400 dollars for it. At the time the only guns I had ever fired were Ruger's and I was used to their rugged and reliable construction. I was planning on using it

I have owned the P89 for 3 years now and have never had any major problems. I own this and the P95 and thinking of buying the P90. Ruger makes a quality built product it takes a licking and keeps on ticking

I just put in a purchase for a stainless 9mm on Wednesday at one of the local gun shops. The sticker price was $419 but I got them to lower it to $400+tax and fees. The only drawback is I can't take delivery on the 2 15 round mags that

I GOT MY P89 IN 2006, I HAVE SHOT 7400 ROUNDS THROUGH IT WITH OUT ANY MECHANICHAL PROBLEMS. I PUT HOGUE GRIPS ON IT AND HELP ME GET A BETTER GRIP ON THE GUN. I PAID $409 NEW AND IT WAS MONEY WELL SPENT, IT'S A RUGGED AND RELIABLE GUN.

The only issue I have had with my P-89 in a decade and over 6000 rounds is that guide rod spring. But turns out it was my fault. The guide rod spring has a particular direction it needs to be installed.
Ruger sent me a new Guide rod and explained the issue. Been more careful since then :)

I bought a used P89 about 5 years ago and absolutely love it. It came with Hogue grips, which I would highly recommend. I have never had a misfeed, and have found it to be very accurate. The solid metal frame makes it a little heavy, but it cuts down

nsimps69, I have had that happen once after I had field stripped, and re-assembled the gun. The pressure from the recoil spring should keep the guide rod pressed aganst the barrel link assembly. Field strip it, and then re-assemble it, making sure that

Just bought a p89dc this past week, mint shape.. However the guide rod pops out about an inch after cocking the gun you then have to push back in. My guess is that it is the incorrect part...? Anyone have any idea's??? Other then that gun is near perfect fires great...

I bought my P89DC used a couple months ago. It has only had a couple hundred rounds through it. I love it. Great on recoil. Just a bit longer(1/2") than a P95. I like it with the Hogue grips. Great shooter. This will be around for a long time.

I have both the P345 and the P90 .45 pistols. I recently sold an AMT .380 and am looking to replace it . Ive been thinking about a compact .45 but I love my two Rugers. A 9mm would be a good backup to either of the .45s. Id consider sticking with what I know works.... RUGER!!!
Ive also thought about the P95, which I think is smaller than the P89. Correct me if Im wrong...

update I bought my P89 in April 2006 for $409. I have fired 2200 rounds so far and has not jamed or misfired. A good choice for fist time buyers. Im currently using the gun to compete at a local gun club. palmspringsgunclub.org check it out! Sights are fixed but you can buy a scope mount at midwayusa.com for about $55

Dont own one but had a chance to shoot one at a range. Wasnt disapointed. The guy modified it with a three pound trigger and some aftermarket sights. Trigger felt springy but honestly had better grouping with his weapon then any other weapon. Ever.
